1890 Scholarship
Kentucky State University (KSU) is now accepting applications for the 1890 Scholarship. This is a potentially lifechanging opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing career paths in food, agriculture, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. The application deadline is July 8, 2026.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the KSU’s 1890 Scholars Program scholarship a student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
- Study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related academic disciplines.
- Demonstrate leadership and community service.
- Provide a Resume: Evidence of leadership and community participation
- Provide an Essay: State clear Intent to pursue career in food and agricultural sciences
- Two Recommendation Letters:
- First time freshman can submit recommendations from High School Counselor and High School Teacher
or
-Transfer student/Current KSU student can submit recommendations from Faculty Member and Department Head/Dean
